Senior Maintenance Worker:(*posted 9-2-08)
This position involves a variety of building maintenance and repair tasks of a skilled nature. Employees in this civil service class are required to work along various skilled trade lines as the occasion demands. In this respect the class differs from such classes as Painter, Carpenter, Plumber, etc. which limit incumbents to a single trade. Incumbents perform their duties with broad latitude for independent planning of laying out of the working details. In these cases where supervisory responsibilities are involved, the Senior Maintenance Worker acts as a leader over one or more workers who perform maintenance and repair jobs of a semi-skilled nature. Does related work as required.
Typical work activities involve supervision and/or performing repairs to plumbing, steam lines, electrical wiring and equipment, furniture, doors and windows, hardware and varied mechanical equipment and machinery, installation of shelving, storage cabinets and new hardware, makes roof repairs and replaces roofs, does skilled painting and other decorative work, oversees the operation of the central heating system, makes inspections of property to ascertain repair needs, estimates material records, supervises and participates in a general grounds maintenance program, maintains inventory of tools, supplies and equipment, responds to emergency calls and performs a wide variety of general repairs, may also oversee and take part in ordinary building cleaning operations.
Desired performance knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics: Thorough knowledge of the practices, processes, materials and tools of the principal trade in which the experience has been gained, good knowledge of one or more additional trades, good knowledge of modern building and grounds maintenance and repair practices, good knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment, familiarity with the operation and maintenance of heating systems, ability to plan and supervise the work of others, ability to understand oral and written directions, mechanical aptitude, dependability, thoroughness, physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
Minimum qualifications: Four (4) years of experience as a journeyman in one of the recognized skilled trades, or eight (8) years of experience in either general building construction or maintenance work in one or more of the standard trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Position requires, eligibility for an appropriate level New York State Driver's License at the time of appointment.

Senior Account Clerk (temporary position):(*posted 9-4-08)
This position is primarily responsible for maintaining student account records. Responsibilities include researching, reviewing and adjusting accounting records and entering data into the computer; and interacting with students, faculty and staff.
Typical work activities include the following: Oversee and classify a variety of receipts and expenditures and distribute items according to prescribed procedures. Has charge of posting to journal or ledger from a variety of entry media. Calculates and posts adjustments to computer system and subsidiary ledgers. Reviews and checks account records and reports for accuracy and completeness. Corresponds with students regarding account activity. Compiles data for, prepares and analyzes complex financial and statistical records and reports.
Desired performance skills and abilities: Knowledge and experience in maintaining financial accounts and records; ability to plan and work independently; a high degree of accuracy; strong computer skills; proficiency in Excel and Word.
Qualifications: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting; or Graduation from high school or equivalency diploma with two years maintaining financial accounts and records.
