Presidential Search Timeline

 

It is the goal of the Presidential Search Committee to keep all candidates fully informed of our search activities.  Providing you, the candidate, with a clear understanding of our timeline will help ensure a positive search process for both North Country and all candidates involved.  Please note that this timeline is subject to change and should be used as an ongoing resource for candidates.

June 2008

  • Full-Update of search committee to College BOT. (Search Chair/Manager)
  • Approval of Search Committee interview questions. (College BOT)
  • Development of search committee candidate evaluation form. (Search Committee)
  • Formal national search process begins. (Manager)

July 2008

  • President Rice retires from Office
  • Interim President assumes duties
  • College BOT updated on applicant volume. (Search Chair/Manager)
  • Search Committee begins review of first-roundapplicants. (Search Committee) 

August 2008

  • Search Committee conducts first-round phone interviews. (Search committee)
  • Search Committee begins review of second-roundapplicants. (Search Committee)
  • Campus-wide update on Presidential Search. (Manager)
  • College BOT updated on Presidential Search progress. (Manager)
  • Notification of first-round applicants not moved forward mailed. (Manager)

September 2008

  • Search Committee begins review of third-roundapplicants. (Search Committee)
  • Notification of first-round Phone interviews and Second/Third Round Applicants not moved forward mailed. (Manager)
  • Search Committee conducts second& third -round phone interviews. (Search Committee)
  • Final review of all applications. (Search Committee)

October 2008

  • Formal unranked recommendation of five/six candidates along with search committee profile of candidates sent to College BOT. (Search Committee/Manager)
  • Notification sent to all candidates not moved forward in final five. (Manager)
  • College BOT reviews recommendation of Search Committee. (College BOT /Manager)
  • College BOT conducts reference & background checks. (College BOT/Manager)
  • College BOT conducts phone interviews. (College BOT/Manager)
  • Need for Off-Site interviews determined and scheduled. (College BOT/Manager)
  • College BOT established guidelines for President’s Compensation & benefit package. (College BOT)
  • College BOT releases Search Committee. (College BOT)

November 2008

  • Off-Site visits conducted. (College BOT/Manager)
  • Final candidates determined. (College BOT)
  • Finalists invited to campus. (College BOT/Manager)

December 2008

  • On-Campus interviews of finalists. (College/Community Wide)
  • College BOT determines finalist in consultation with SUNY Rep. (College BOT/SUNY)
  • Contract negotiations with finalist. (College Attorney/Manager)

January 2009

  • Finalist forwarded to SUNY Chancellor/SUNY BOT. (BOT/Manager)
  • Finalist Approved & College/SUNY make public announcement. (BOT/SUNY/Manager)

May 2009

  • Interim President contract expires 

June 2009
