Melinda Fredenburg
Science Instructor
As a kid, Mindy found her love of learning about the natural environment while aboard the Hudson River sloop, The Clearwater, during a 6th grade field trip. After earning a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Potsdam in Biology (taking every ecology course they offered), she went on to earn her master’s degree at SUNY Fredonia studying the diet of little brown bats (Myotis lucifugus).
Eventually, Mindy settled down with her husband in Ithaca, NY where she worked for 10 years as a Lab Tech at the New York State Veterinary Diagnostic Lab at Cornell University. Here she was able to expand her knowledge of biology into the realm of microbiology and veterinary diagnostic medicine.
Mindy is delighted to be able to return to the Adirondacks and transition into teaching about the natural world to students here at NCCC! Currently, she enjoys spending time with her family, competing in NYS Sporterifle and working to make her house net zero.
