North Country Live: Backcountry Preparedness 101

Hikers and backpackers can sometimes wind up in bad situations because of a lack of knowledge or preparedness. This program will highlight how to plan and prepare for your next adventure.

Hosted by Jimmy Cunningham, Director, NCCC Wilderness Recreation Leadership program. The program will feature four panelists:
- Jack Drury, co-owner of Leading E.D.G.E., a professional development firm, founder of NCCC's Wilderness Recreation Leadership Program and an Adirondack guide for 45 years.
- Chelsea Walker, licensed guide with Scenic Route Guiding and Gear Rentals, an administrator of the Adk Backcountry Hikers FB Group, and a Wilmington resident.
- Will Roth, an adjunct faculty member in NCCC's Wilderness Recreation Leadership program and SUNY Plattsburgh's Expeditionary Studies Program, Head Rock/Ice Climbing Guide for Lake Placid EMS Climbing School, and a Rock and Ice Climbing Guide with Rock & River Guide Service.
- Bobby O'Connor, a faculty member at Paul Smith's College in the Recreation, Adventure Education and Leisure Management Program, a paddling, climbing and mountaineering instructor, and a state licensed guide.
