June 19, 2023

SARANAC LAKE – North Country Community College will host a pair of fun, educational day camps for high school students interested in careers in healthcare.

The MASH (Medical Academy of Science and Health) Camps will take place this summer at the college’s Malone and Ticonderoga campuses. The application window is open now at www.nccc.edu/mash-camp.

MALONE

The Malone MASH Camp takes place July 25 at the college’s Malone campus and July 26 at Alice Hyde Medical Center and Community Health Center of the North Country. It’s being coordinated by the Northern Area Health Education Center.

Students will gain firsthand, authentic experience of the health care world in an interactive way. Through a series of interactive, hands-on activities that highlight various health career opportunities, participants will learn about the education requirements, skills, typical job duties, and personal qualities for specific health professional fields. The program will also provide students with the opportunity to network with health care professionals.

The application deadline for the Malone MASH Camp is July 11.

TICONDEROGA

The Ticonderoga MASH Camp will take place July 11 at the college’s Ticonderoga campus and is being coordinated by the Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center. Students in grades 9-12 will be able to explore a wide variety of healthcare careers, from entry level to those requiring advanced college degrees.

Campers will enjoy a full day of fun and interaction on the campus, where they will:

  • Tour many departments learning about the tasks and skills involved with each career area
  • Participate in interactive, hands-on workshops that highlight the equipment, technology, and resources used by health professionals
  • Learn about the educational requirements, skills, typical job duties, and personal qualities of successful health professionals and para-professionals.

As part of the camp experience, each participant will receive: scrubs with name badge to wear at camp, snacks and lunch, certificate of participation, and lots of attention from caring health professionals.

The application deadline for the Ticonderoga MASH Camp is June 23.
