Students work at a tableSARANAC LAKE – High school students interested in healthcare-related careers are invited to register for one of three fun, educational camps hosted by North Country Community College in partnership with the Northern Area Health Education Center and Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center.

The MASH (Medical Academy of Science and Health) Camps will take place this summer at the college’s Malone, Saranac Lake and Ticonderoga campuses. The application window is open now by visiting www.nccc.edu/mash-camp. The dates of each camp are as follows:

  • Malone, July 9-10
  • Saranac Lake, July 16-17
  • Ticonderoga, July 25

MASH Camp is a unique opportunity for students in grades 8-12 to gain a firsthand, authentic experience of the healthcare world in an interactive way as they begin their educational pathways in pursuit of a degree.

By participating in interactive, hands-on activities that highlight various health career opportunities, students learn about the educational requirements, skills, typical job duties and personal qualities of specific health professional fields. Involvement in MASH Camp increases student awareness and understanding of the hospital setting and structure. Additionally, this program provides students the opportunity to network with health care professionals in their communities, thus building long-term mentoring relationships.

These sessions will provide students with insight and a starting point to explore their career and education options thoroughly.  Regardless of the camp location, each day is different, designed to provide interesting, thought-provoking exercises, real-life activities, and diverse simulation experiences.

Space is limited. The application deadline for the Saranac Lake and Malone MASH Camps is June 28. The deadline to apply for the Ticonderoga camp is July 5.
