North Country Live: Summer Series begins June 11

Wellness, Personal Finance, and History sessions planned weekly on Zoom

North Country Live: Summer SeriesSARANAC LAKE – Wellness and resiliency. Stress management. Personal finance. Adirondack history.

Those are just a few of the topics that will be covered as part of a free series of online webinars North Country Community College is offering to the public this summer.

North Country Live: Summer Series will be held via Zoom every Thursday at 7 p.m. starting June 11, 2020. The presentations are free, although pre-registration is required so invitation details can be sent to participants.

The Summer Series will be presented in three blocks. The month of June will focus on wellness and self-help skills with the following sessions:

  • June 11, “Resilience in a Time of Crisis,” with Selina LeMay-Klippel
  • June 18, “Mindfulness and Mental Health,” with Angela Brice
  • June 25, “Tools to Manage Stress,” with Michele Pearsall

In July, the Summer Series will pivot to sessions on personal and business finance. Then in August, a series of presentations are planned on Adirondack history. Details of each of these sessions will be announced in the coming weeks.

Each Zoom session will be hosted by NCCC faculty and staff or special guests with experience in the field. The presentations will last 20-30 minutes and will be followed by an opportunity to interact with and ask questions of the host.

“The pandemic has created so many uncertainties from health concerns, financial insecurities to even career choices,” said Selina LeMay-Klippel, the college’s coordinator of career and technical education programs and curriculum development.  “As the community college of the North Country, we know  we can help. We have pieced together what we feel are some of the most challenging issues that people here in the North Country face. Through virtual outreach we hope our series will help address some of those concerns.”
