SARANAC LAKE – As the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival kicks into high gear this weekend,
the college is excited to once again have one of its students among this year’s royalty.
Owen McRae, a Radiologic Technology student from Syracuse, was selected to represent North Country as this year’s Winter Carnival Prince. He received his crown at the Jan. 31 coronation ceremony and has been attending carnival events all week.
“I think it is a fantastic event,” he said. “It is quite uplifting seeing the entire community come together and celebrate during these cold winter months. To me, it is an honor and an unforgettable experience that I will be telling family about for years to come.”
The son of Jamie Ryan and Douglas McRae, Owen is a graduate of the Charles Baker High School in Baldwinsville. He is in his first year in the Rad Tech program and plans to graduate from North Country in the spring of 2026. Owen enjoys spending time outdoors exploring new areas through hiking, fishing or hunting. HIs future plans include becoming an X-ray Technologist and real estate development as well as spreading as many smiles as he can.
Each year, North Country and Paul Smith’s College select a prince and princess to be part of the carnival royal court. This year’s princess, representing Paul Smith’s, Anni Woods, a junior from Arizona.
