TICONDEROGA – North Country Community College welcomed New York Secretary of State Walter Mosley at a pair of events at its Ticonderoga and Saranac Lake campuses on Tuesday.
Secretary Mosely, a former state Assemblyman from Brooklyn, outlined initiatives in Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposed budget, including a plan to provide free community college tuition to adult students.
This program, based on similar programs in Massachusetts and Michigan, would cover tuition, fees, books, and supplies for adults ages 25-55, after applicable financial aid, who pursue an associate degree in high-demand fields like health care, advanced manufacturing, IT and cybersecurity, and sustainability. Adults without a college degree would be able to attend full- or part-time under the governor’s plan.
Secretary Mosley also used his visit to outline the services provided by the Department of State.
