SARANAC LAKE -- North Country Community College alumna Chelsea Helms has been nominated for her third Emmy award.
A 2012 graduate of the college’s Liberal Arts & Sciences: Humanities and Social Science program, Chelsea is a news anchor at CBS4 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She previously worked as an anchor/reporter for KNWA in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
She received an Emmy nomination for a story about Trent Brock, a cancer survivor who underwent a first-of-its-kind surgery and treatment to defeat pancreatic cancer.
“His story is a reminder of the power of hope and the human spirit in the face of life's toughest challenges,” Helms wrote on social media, saying she was “incredibly humbled and honored” to receive an Emmy nomination for her work.
The 48th Mid-America Emmy Awards will take place Oct. 26 in Overland Park, Kansas.
The college extends its congratulations to Chelsea and best of luck at the upcoming awards.
